Melbourne's progressive rock stalwarts A LONELY CROWD have signed with Sydney-based label Bird's Robe Records.
The 4-piece band have spent several years honing their craft at a series of festivals and tours across the country, including an internationally-successful debut record released in 2011. Their live show, featuring soaring vocals, complex polyrhythms and impressive musicianship, has earned them supports with the likes of Cog, sleepmakeswaves & Closure in Moscow.
With their debut video 'Blur' screening on rage just last week, the band will release their second album 'Transients' in early 2014.
A Lonely Crowd join the growing Bird's Robe Australian roster alongside sleepmakeswaves, The Red Paintings, Tangled Thoughts of Leaving, Toehider, Pirate, Dumbsaint, Solkyri, Anubis, Unitopia, The Nerve & more, as well as international experimental rock icons 65daysofstatic (UK), Rosetta (US), Atlantis (NED) and Vampillia (JPN).
The band released the following announcement:
"As we approach 2014 we are beyond thrilled to announce that our second album 'Transients' will be released through Bird's Robe Records! It's been two and a half years of blood, sweat and harmonic minors working towards the creation and release of our second album, and it is truly humbling to be joining a community of artists and friends whom we have a huge amount of respect for. Mike Solo and Bird's Robe are fiercely determined advocates of the acts they work with and they have made huge inroads towards getting our amazing music scene the recognition it deserves. Please stay tuned for the announcement of our album launch in early 2014!"
Bird's Robe Records' Director Mike Solo released the following statement
"I'm very happy to cap off the year by announcing A Lonely Crowd have officially joined Bird's Robe Records.
Having worked with Xen, Luke, David and Scott on many shows before, they already feel like part of the family. It's nice to be able to make it official and share their brilliant new album with everyone next year.
One of the best things about doing this music thing is the people you get to meet. A Lonely Crowd are some of the finest people I have had the pleasure of calling my friends, which makes it all the more special.
Welcome to the family ALC!"
