Unspeakable Axe Records is set to release Sentient, the otherworldly debut album from Chicago's NUCLEUS.
Drawing inspiration from outer limits of science-fiction, NUCLEUS plays a twisted and bizarre strain of death metal in the vein of ATHEIST and under-appreciated, yet boundary-warping innovators such as TIMEGHOUL and DEMILICH. Lyrically, Sentient steers away from the usual death metal topics in favor of themes based on the headier dimensions of Isaac Asimov, Arthur Clarke and Frank Herbert.
Cover art for Sentient was painted by Dan Seagrave. The piece, which captures the album's unusual essence and warped riffing, is one of the artist's wildest and most colorful creations to date.
Sentient will be out on April 15 with pre-orders coming in mid-March.
